Christianity

Why are Christians involved in fairtrade issues? Because we believe that God is interested in fairtrade issues!

God loves people more than anything - God cares about the farmers and tea pickers who receive a pittance of a pay at the expense of companies who become richer and richer. God cares about families working hour after hour whilst not having the means to eat a decent meal. God is the God of the poor as well as the God of the rich!

So as the church in Halifax we push for Fairtrade issues. We care about those less well off than us - be it the homeless in Halifax or the farmer in Africa. And if, in our small way, we can help make a difference we will!

The Fairtrade Cafe as well as this web site is one way we can make a difference! As well as promote Fairtrade we can also offer God who can change your life. We can pray for you, we can offer a listening ear, we care about people and about our town - because God cares about people and about our town!

Through Street Angels we go further - walking the streets looking out for those who are vulnerable and in need. Linking with others who aim to make Halifax a safer place.

The church in Halifax aims to be local and think global. God loves everyone - including you - He is for you and thinks you are great! May God bless you!
